Manila Water Company, Inc. (MWC) was incorporated on January 6, 1997 to provide water treatment, water distribution, sewerage, and sanitation services to more than seven million people in the East Zone of Metro Manila, comprising a broad range of residential, semi-business, commercial and industrial customers.
On December 10, 2021, the franchise of Manila Water (Republic Act (RA) No.11601) was signed into law and became effective on January 25, 2022. The law grants Manila Water the franchise to establish, operate and maintain a waterworks and sewerage system in the East Zone Service Area of Metro Manila and the Province of Rizal for a period of 25 years and affirms the status of Manila Water as a public utility.
The Company's wholly-owned subsidiaries are Manila Water Philippine Ventures, Inc. (MWPV), the holding company for all of MWC's domestic operating subsidiaries, including those who have bulk water supply deals in Clark, Cebu, Boracay, Davao, among others; Manila Water Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. (MWAP), the holding company for MWC's international ventures, which include Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam-based affiliates and associates; and Manila Water Total Solutions Corporation, which handles after-the-meter products and services. MWC also owns 90% of Calasiao Water Company, Inc.
